I walk along the beaten path
kicking the pebbles with my feet
my head hung low
arms wrapped around me
I see the dark shadows
looming behind the trees
calling me
taunting me
wanting me to play
I fight you from entering
I can’t listen to you
for what you say are lies
yet, you try so hard
you tell me no one cares
no one listens
your not even worth it
you know how to enter
I hate you for that
you come in so quiet
you enter my dreams
you slither in like a snake
I keep watching you
looming behind me

breathing down my neck
whispering in my ear

your dark fingers
wrap around my neck
wanting me to breathe you in

you want me to believe you
I can’t, I won’t
