Staring at the tub
Choosing my gel
Knowing the water has to come on
I stand and I stare
One foot, two
Now I’m in, now what
I begin to kneel
As I turn in the water
I take my sponge
Shake it in the water
Ooo I see bubbles
I got this, I think
Beginning to lather
The suds form over my body
Knowing now, I really got this.
Finally rinsed I sit back
Taking a deep breathe
Half full, that’s good
Soap in my hands
Cleaning my face
Feeling the cleansing of suds
Here comes the water
It’s time to rinse
Grabbing a towel to dry my face
Tears fall instead
Overwhelmed once again
By the water against my skin
Getting out, I reach for my towel again
Dry off
Get dressed
I got this
I do those things, slowly
The feeling of brokenness fills me
One step at a time
