The Call

 just waking up

with the baby on the table

getting ready for the day

i won’t forget

not that day

with a good morning

a cheerful sound

the silence behind it

the call

the tears

730am I get the call

they did all they could

nothing they could do

she was already gone

how

how could she

i just talked to her

she isn’t

she can’t

the phone almost falls

as someone comes and gets me

someone gets the baby

before I lose it completely

shaking

crying

hysterics

almost screaming

this isn’t real

i am in a dream

no, she was fine

she isn’t gone

they did all they could

630 they called her

that was it

she was no more

I stand there cold

with the snow falling

the last time I saw her

the last time I saw snow

i said goodbye

with everything i had left

every bit of strength I had

it was time to let her go

not a day goes by

that i don’t think of her

the smile

the love

she is in my heart forever

Can You Hear Me

The tall dark shadows loom above Looking up to find that peace Lost in the world Standing alone Calling out “can anyone hear me” No reply ...
