The Walk Home

 I hear you behind me

I hear you gathering them

I walk faster and faster

If i can just get to the

crossing guard

It doesn’t matter

I feel the items hitting me

The pain with every item.

The laughter

The names

Maybe if I can make it to

the tracks it will stop

I fell them hitting me

How many do they have

The laughter with every throw

The names being shouted

I see the park

Now will it stop

Now can I breathe and relax

I feel them some more.

Hitting me

They have to be low now

The laughing

The names

I see my house I am home free

Now will it stop

I wait to feel the pain

Waiting for laughter

Waiting to hear the names

nothing

nothing

A sigh of relief

I made it through another day

Can I make it again tomorrow

this mile long walk

Can I make it

Will I make it

Can You Hear Me

The tall dark shadows loom above Looking up to find that peace Lost in the world Standing alone Calling out “can anyone hear me” No reply ...
